Bandarban a district under Chittagong division in Bangladesh
Bandarban is a district in Bangladesh under the Chittagong division. It is in the southeastern part of Bangladesh. The place is famous for tourism.
Bandarban means the dam of monkeys. Sangu, Matamuhuri, and Bbakkhali are the main rivers of the region. There are three highest peaks in these districts. They are Tahjindong, Mowdok Mural, and Keokradong. And there is a lake called Raikhiang. Chimbuk peak and Boga Lake are two famous attractions of the district.
It is a part of the Chittagong Hill Tracts. The other part is Rangamati and Khagrachhari. The District is founded on 18 April 1981. The total area is 4,479.01 sq-km. During the war liberation-war in 1971, Bandarban was under Sector 1.
The place is popular for the tribal indigenous community. There are more than fifteen ethnic minorities living in the district. They are mainly Marma, Chakma, Bawm, Murong, Khumee, Tripura, Khyang, and Lushei. The local people keep their heritage for a long time.
It is bordered by Rangamati on the north, Myanmar is on the south and east, Chittagong and Cox’s Bazar district on the west.
